Went to a very motivational conference at Walsall Football Stadium. Places like that have a certain feeling about them when they’re empty that’s so far removed from when they’re full of people.

The first four squares!

They don’t look much yet but think the colours are fab and can’t wait to get the next lot. Trying to work out the theme, is it seaside, coral reef, maybe astrology (cancer the crab)? Just realised from looking at the photo that the crab is the wrong way up! Will have to pull the coral down and start again!

Spent four hours today loading up Windows 7 that I’m assured will be heaps better and faster than Vista so let’s hope so.

Butter wouldn’t melt. This is the very naughty dog who ran out into the street when Sainsburys came to deliver. My fault really as I didn’t check to make sure she was shut in. Hugely helpful van driver chased after her while I got the lead and the car – she’s fast. He managed to keep sight of her so that all I had to do was look for his hi-viz jacket, drive and pick her up. What an amazing bloke for helping so much.

My yarn arrived for Debbie Abraham’s mystery blanket and I’ve managed to do one square and a bit of another. Fabulous yarns and lovely colours!

If Emma’s is from last year (below) is anything to go by, it will be beautiful when it’s finished.

Ally McBeal day today. Escapism at its absolute best. Finished first project of the year (scarf in Rowan’s yummy Lima – totally sumptuous) and also the Christmas sweets ready for restarting Idiot Proof Diet tomorrow.

Back to work with a vengeance tomorrow. Always feels weird going back to work after Christmas break.

Went to Manfield Crafts for “back to normal after holidays” knitting group this afternoon. Very relaxing. Picked up the latest Kim Hargreaves book and Rowan’s Little Luxuries. I’d already ordered the Kim Hargreaves and Little Luxuries give me loads of patterns for knitting up the huge stash of kidsilk haze I have! So still on the frugal track – sort of.

Just cooking the ham, leek and blue cheese pie for supper with my friend, Tricia, from the idiot proof diet cook book. Will be back on that properly from Monday. Need to keep reminding myself that I lost a stone and a half in six weeks last year and haven’t put it back on. Just need to get rid of a little bit more.

New Gloves

Lost my gloves over Christmas so made a new pair today. Just need a hat to go with them so will have to check out Ravelry for a pattern.

Following the lead of my sister, Valerie aka Dotty Dotty who has completed a whole year of “a photo a day” and who got so much out of it. This is the first day and I don’t have a photo yet but will by this evening. Have also joined forces with my friend Kathryn to live a frugal year. I looked up the meaning of frugal and this is what I came up with:

(n.) A sparing use; sparingness; as, frugality of praise.

(n.) The quality of being frugal; prudent economy; that careful management of anything valuable which expends nothing unnecessarily, and applies what is used to a profitable purpose; thrift; — opposed to extravagance.

I don’t want to be miserly but I want to think before I buy. I like this from Eyes on Living
